I don't really have anything to say about roleplaying. Can we talk about Star Trek? I want to talk about Star Trek.

So I think it's pretty cool that no matter what Pike does in this scene, and in the episode in general, the Talosians are just gonna smile their smug smiles and talk about how his reaction demonstrates inferiority. As though a truly intelligent race would just sit passively and not make an attempt. And that's how it works in real life a lot of the time- once people have formed an opinion of you or your group, anything you say or do will just reinforce that opinion. It's hard to actually prove people wrong.

I hope you were not looking for anything too insightful in this space.

This episode, the second pilot "Where no man has gone before" and Star Trek the Motion picture have things in common that the other episodes and movies do not.

They are unbelievably long and equally boring? About things no-one understands, are poorly written and abysmally acted?
{Not the comic, obviously. That's hilarious}
Nah, I liked the cage and where no man has gone before MUCH more then I liked "Star Trek: This film should be on MST3K"
But that's just me.
