Today is April fourth, 2014. You know what that means: only 49 years until first contact with the Vulcans. I mean, technically one of them went back in time and visited us in the eighties, but that doesn't really count.

Oh, right. The comic. I'm not really sure what Eri is doing here. She seemed like such a sweet kid.

The episode does make a point of the aliens WANTING to make them happy. They could have given Pike the illusion of excape. That illusion could go for decades. As a role game, the players are already assuming it is fantasy. What if that was part of the illusion?

AND THE PLOT THICKENS. At the end of the last episode they realize that Kirk was Pike all along, Vina is every girl of the week for the rest of the series, and the Talosians have succeeded at creating plenty of little humans. It was all part of their brilliant plan from the start.

Yeah, I realized about halfway through this episode that it was an oddly appropriate plot to begin with for a series about people sitting in a room and pretending to be something they weren't.

Appendages are only there to be conveniently ripped off later.
